Staffing:
There are 4 groups of  3 personnel, plus an attempt to hire (on OT or otherwise) a 4th person on shift (ideally 2 medics)
Minimum of 2 per shift.
Each group works an average of 42 hours a week on an 8 day rotation
The work week include (2) 24 hour shifts 0700-0700
The work schedule is (1) 24 on, (2) off, (1) 24 hr shift on, (4) off. (1-2-1-4)
(1) 24 On 0700-0700, (2) 24 Off, (1) 24 On 0700-0700, (4) Days Off

Station staffing is as follows:    (1) Lt  (2) FF +(1)
Minimum Staffing is:                (2) Station 1




- Truro is using Fulltime personnel and Per Diem personnel to cover shifts 24/7. Ordinary staffing would be at least (2) per shift, including a Lt and Firefighter. When that is not possible, per diem staff are used to fill shifts. When available, particularly during busy times, the department schedules additional personnel to maintain 3 or 4 per shift.
- Regular shift schedules is (1) 24 hour day on, (2) days off, (1) 24 hour shift on, and (4) days off working from 0800-0800.
- In additional to Truro personnel, the Lower Cape Ambulance Asso currently (since Jan 2009) staffs an ambulance with (2) personnel 24/7. Those personnel are often used to transport patients to the hospital.
- Truro is no longer maintaining a Call Department due to the difficulty of recruiting and maintaining qualified personnel who live in town.

FIRE DEPARTMENT ORGANIZATION

The Truro Fire Department was established around 1930. It was originally organized by Colonel Richard McGee with a fire engine being housed at his farm (Cobb Farm) on County Rd in South Truro. Another fire station was built on Castle Road in Truro center and another on Shore Road in North Truro.
The Truro rescue squad was established in xxxx.
